Grade Quiz Submissions

Instructors have the ability to manually grade quiz submissions even if the submissions were automatically marked by Brightspace. One such scenario where instructor intervention is if a written response question type is used in the quiz, which Brightspace can’t automatically mark.

Instructions

Follow the steps below to grade Student Quiz submissions.

  1. In the Quizzes tool Select the drop-down arrow next to the quiz you wish to grade to open the Quiz’s more options. Then select “Grade”

  2. The Grade area will open, displaying all the student submissions.

  3. Manage Exemptions. Select this option to give or remove students exemptions.

  4. Attempt Logs- Use this feature to review student activity while the assessment was available to them.

  5. More Options

    1. Export Attempt Logs - download attempt logs as CSV or excel files

    2. Display Options - Alter the display options for on the submissions page.

  1. Select the attempt link to view the submission. Review the Quiz Results and add feedback in the “Attempt Feedback” section and the “Expand Question 1 Feedback”.

  2. When ready select the Publish Button to share the Quiz results with your student. CPI advises that you select “Save Draft” until all submissions have been graded. Use the Navigator tool to seamlessly navigate through the student submissions.

Release Quiz Grades in Bulk

  1. On the Assessment’s submissions page click Publish Feedback to release the feedback for multiple attempts simultaneously.

Note: Once feedback is published, the user interface displays options to Reset (delete feedback and grades) and Retract. Retract allows score and feedback to be hidden from learners. Published feedback automatically appears in your grade book. If you retract published feedback, the entry is simultaneously removed from the grade book until you publish again.
