Grades

The Grades tool is where you can see scores for all assessments within a course once they have been released by your instructor. Below are frequently asked questions about Brightspace grades.

How do I view my grades?

The Grades tool is available in a course site’s navigation bar. Click that to see a list of all released Grade Items. These will be displayed with their point values, weighting, and then grade scheme symbol (which is usually a percentage).

Final Grades are released through my.brocku.ca at the end of the semester.

Where can I see feedback for my assignments and quizzes?

“Feedback” is typically first released through the dedicated assessment tools. Assignments, Quizzes, and Discussions can all have their own feedback included and published alongside your submission.

Alternatively, feedback will be linked in the Comments and Assessments column of Grades.

Why can’t I see my grades?

  • Your instructor may have the grade item hidden.

  • The grade for that assessment may have not been published/released yet.

  • Release conditions for that grade item may not have been met.

Contact your TA or instructor if you believe there is an issue and you should be able to see certain grades.

Why do some of my grades say “Dropped”?

Your instructor may be running additional calculations on your Grade items, e.g., dropping the lowest weekly quiz score in a series. Refer to the course syllabus or your TA/instructor for information on how your assessments are scored and how your course grade is calculated.

If your instructor has elected to remove an item from your course grade, the Exempt label will appear.
