Content and lessons

The Content area of Brightspace at Brock is dedicated to lessons, reading, and any other information that your instructor wishes to share. This page covers student questions specific to Content.

Where do I find lessons, course materials, and readings?

Click Content on the navigation bar of the course site. You will find folders, lectures, and electronic resources shared by your instructor. Select folders to expand them and view pages and resources within that unit.

Can I download my syllabus or any other document from Content?

Yes. Any file uploaded to Content is downloadable through the cloud icon in the top-right corner.

Remember that any document from your course is property of your instructor. You must respect any measures they have taken to reduce distribution of their property. Typically, something shared on a course site may be downloaded for personal use but redistribution is prohibited.

Contact your instructor about the document in question if you are unsure of the permissions you have.

Can I bookmark a Content item?

Brock’s version of Brightspace does not have an internal bookmarking system, but any Content item is a static webpage and can be bookmarked by a web browser.

Why can’t I see a Content item?

There are several reasons why content in courses may not appear:

  • The content is hidden or date-restricted.

  • The instructor has established Release Conditions that prevent access (e.g., you must complete an Academic Integrity pledge quiz before accessing lecture notes).

Speak with your instructor to find alternative means of access to Content that does not display.

Please contact CPI at edtech@brocku.ca with any questions or comments about the contents of this site.
