Opt out of a Student Course Experience Survey
An instructor can choose to opt out of the Student Course Experience Survey system for individual courses.
Some departments independently manage surveys and feedback. If choosing to opt out, an instructor should immediately inform their academic unit as policy or procedure implications may arise. Departments may also provide instruction on alternative means of surveying students.
Find the course survey to be adjusted
If a course includes multiple sections, take this step for each section where opting out is required.
Find the Question Personalization option associated with the course survey to be disabled and click on the three dot button on the far-right.
Click Manage Settings
Each survey provides a quick overview of its configuration options. This includes a Manage Settings button.
If a survey is currently Active, Manage Settings will be available through the ellipsis (three dots) button in the bottom-right corner.
Opt out (choose not to opt in)
In the Opt in to university, program, and instructor questions? area, toggle the selection to No to exclude the course from the survey system for the current semester.
Courses with a single instructor include a second toggle that must be kept at Yes if surveys are being used. In rare cases, this can be set to No to run the survey without instructor-related information, where only the university and program questions are shared and instructor-specific reports are not required.
Multiple instructors in a single course: individual opt out
Courses with a multiple instructors include a second section to Select Instructors which can be used to individually opt out members of the teaching team. Click the arrow to view a list of all associated instructors and toggle anyone to be opted-out to No. This should only be used when agreed upon by the teaching team.
Opting out individuals would imply that the survey is still being used for the other instructor(s), and thus the first toggle (Opt in to university, program, and instructor questions?) must be kept at Yes.
