Share Yuja video externally

Users may wish to share videos they’ve stored in YuJa with people outside of the Brock University organization. This is possible and can be done from the YuJa Media Library.

YuJa offers an easier way for Brock users to share videos and folders with other Brock users. This can help with collaborative video sharing across lectures or groups that share media frequently. Take a look at step-by-step instructions on how to make a folder shareable on YuJa’s website.

Create a Direct Link

YuJa provides direct links to videos that video owners can send to users outside of Brock, they can be found with the following steps:

  1. Access the Media Library at brocku.video.yuja.com or through a Brightspace site’s Course Tools menu.

  2. Find the video. The library is arranged by upload date and there is a search option in the top-left.

  3. Hover over a video’s thumbnail and select More…, which will open a pop-up Media Details window. These options will not appear if a video has just been uploaded and is still processing.

A video’s thumbnail will provide a list of options including More…
  4. Select Links. From here, a direct link to the video can be copied. By default direct links are public, so anyone who gets ahold of the link can access the video.

Adding Restrictions to a Direct Link

While direct links allow for public access by default, they can be customized to further restrict access. These options are found in the Links area of the video. Scrolling down below the Direct Link reveals options for enabling Single-Sign-On to watch the video (meaning users will have to log into their Brock accounts before gaining access), as well as the Security Settings button.

Security Settings allows users to enable various restrictions such as setting a password or a time limit on the availability of the video. The full extent of options are explained below:

  • Password or Authentication Restriction: Set a password or require users to login to access the shared media.

  • Date Restriction: Set a date range the media content will be available for.

  • IP Range and Address Restriction: Set the specific IP ranges where the shared media will be accessible.

  • Location Restriction: Set the geographic restriction where the shared media can be accessed.

  • Domain Restriction: Set the domains where the shared media can only accessible from.

Select the Save button to save the changes.
