YuJa Quizzes

YuJa offers the ability to embed quiz questions into videos. These quizzes offer various question types and functionalities; from testing comprehension to tracking interaction.

Syncing Quizzes with the Brightspace Gradebook

Instructors may find that they wish to sync quiz grades from YuJa with their Brightspace gradebook. CPI has outlined steps below on this process:

Inserting the Quiz into the Content area

1. Navigate to the course Content area, and select Add Existing button in the top-right.
   (Please note: the Add Existing button only appears if at least one unit has been created, learn more from CPI documentation on Designing and Organizing Materials in Content)

2. Select More, then scroll to the bottom of the menu to find and select Yuja Media Chooser - Deep Link for Quizzes.

3. Select the desired quiz from the Quizzes tab. Select Insert Content in the bottom-right of the menu window to continue. The activity has now been added to the Content area.

Syncing the Quiz

Once the quiz is inserted into the Content area, it can be linked to the gradebook for the course.

1. Select the quiz learning object, then select the three dots … in the top-right of the Content area. Select Edit from the drop-down menu.

2. In the editor window, select Add and Manage Grade Items, under the Name field.

   1. In the menu that opens, select + Grade Item. Select the number of points the quiz will be graded out of.

   2. Select OK, then Save and Close to finish.

The quiz is now manually synced from the YuJa Quiz to the Brightspace gradebook.

Manually Syncing YuJa Quiz grades with the Gradebook

By default, grades should automatically sync between YuJa and the Brightspace gradebook, but some instructors may prefer to make sure they have the most up-to-date grades by forcing a manual sync. This can be done from the instructor’s YuJa account.

1. Access your YuJa account by selecting Course Tools on the course navbar, then selecting YuJa Video at the bottom of the drop-down menu. A new tab will open with the instructor’s personal YuJa Media Library.

2. In the top-right of the site, select the waffle icon > Usage & Analytics.

3. Navigate to the left side of the Usage & Analytics area, and select Grade Book at the bottom of the toolbar.

4. Select the course, then the quiz that needs to be synced. Select Get Result.

5. Select the Sync Gradebook button > On-Demand LMS Quiz Gradebook Sync. This will sync all of the quiz grades with the Brightspace gradebook.

   1. If the instructor wishes to just sync one student’s mark, they can do so by clicking the checkbox next to the student’s name then selecting the Sync Gradebook button > On-Demand LMS Student Gradebook Sync.
