Create and record a video in YuJa

YuJa offers the ability to record videos directly in a web browser or through a dedicated desktop application. This functionality includes the expected controls for audio and video inputs, screen selection, on-screen annotation, and live streaming.

Additionally, recording options are available in both the Insert Stuff menu when accessing the YuJa Media Chooser in Brightspace and through the YuJa Media Library.

Access the recording tools via Insert Stuff

  1. Open the HTML text editor anywhere in Brightspace.

  2. Select Insert Stuff and then YuJa Media Chooser.

  3. Click the Create Recording tab on the right [1].

YuJa offers a downloadable application [2] that has a few more features than its in-browser counterpart, although the latter may be perfectly suitable. Choose between the two in the top-right [4] and then click Launch Recorder [3].

  4. Enter a title for the video and then click Start once all other settings are configured (this happens on the same screen in the desktop application).

Access the recording tools via the YuJa Media Library

  1. Visit the YuJa Media Library via Course Tools on the navbar in a Brightspace site or directly through brocku.video.yuja.com.

  2. Click Create Recording at the top of the Media Library.

Record videos (in the desktop application or browser capture)

Find and launch the downloaded YuJa Software Capture desktop application. An initial prompt will request an access method: select Brock University Single-Sign-On, then Continue.

If using the browser capture option, an initial prompt may ask for permission to access the hardware microphone and camera. Choose Allow.

Once either application has launched, various options for camera and audio hardware input, screen configuration, and to enable the Live streaming mode (if needed) are presented. Select whatever is necessary.

Click Start Recording or Start when ready to record.

The recording tool with provide a three second countdown timer before beginning, after which a recording overlay will appear. Use this menu to end the recording, switch hardware inputs, and access annotation and screen markup tools.

Once finished, click the end (red square) button. This will prompt the options to upload (or discard) the new recording directly to the YuJa Media Library.

If the recording tool was accessed through the YuJa Media Chooser, it will be ready to be embedded in Brightspace once uploaded.
