Microsoft Teams

Microsoft Teams is a group-based or one-on-one communication platform for both text and rich media communication. It can support up to 250 concurrent users per meeting.

Teams is a useful option for delivering synchronous (live) lectures or facilitating course discussion and is available to all members of the Brock community.

Microsoft Forms

Microsoft Forms is a tool that offers a simple interface for creating basic surveys and evaluations. It is available to all Brock instructors and students through the Microsoft 365 suite of applications via myoffice.brocku.ca.

Microsoft offers their own detailed text and video guides to help get started using Forms. They also provide templates and examples. This article seeks to expand upon those and assist with idea and use-case generation.

Pressbooks

Pressbooks is an online platform that allows members of the Brock community to create and publish online books. It has been made available to Brock University and other Ontario higher education institutions as a space managed by eCampusOntario.

Pressbooks is commonly used to publish and share open educational resources, but is also useful for small-group collaborative projects that can similarly be shared with the community.

H5P Studio via eCampusOntario

H5P Studio is an Open Educational Resource (OER) creation tool from eCampusOntario. It is free to use for Brock faculty and staff, and offers many different ways to create resources and activities that can be embedded or linked to in Brightspace and other online platforms.

H5P, the company, was recently acquired by D2L (who makes Brightspace). This has no impact on H5P use through eCampusOntario at Brock.

Padlet

Padlet is a collaborative media-focused tool that gives instructors the ability to create spaces to share resources and facilitate discussion. It offers a visually-pleasing and user-friendly way to share links, images, videos, and comments asynchronously and functions as a virtual bulletin board.

It has a capable but limited free version that does require an account for use.
