Awards is a tool in Brightspace that instructors can use to incentivize/gamify aspects of their course or site. With the use of Release Conditions in Brightspace, students can be automatically awarded badges and certificates based on performance, interactivity, and more.

Where to find Awards
Brightspace Homepage
The Awards tool can be found along the navbar of a user’s Brightspace homepage (accessible via the Brock logo in the top-left of Brightspace)
Course Site
The Awards tool is accessible from the navbar > Course Tools > Awards.
Badges and Certificates
There are two different types of awards that can be given to students:
Badges
Badges are digital markers that represent accomplishment of a task/activity throughout a course or program. They are connected to a student’s profile.
Certificates
Certificates are similar to badges, but also include a PDF that users can print. They are typically used as an official statement for a milestone completed, such as completion of training or finishing a program.
