“External Tools” refers to activities, programs, and functions that are commonly utilized by instructors of the university, but are not directly tied to Brightspace. Mobius, Hypothesis, and the Course Readings Link are all considered external tools.

Accessing External Tools

To add an external tool select the unit or lesson you’d like to add it to, then click the Add Existing button.

You will be brought to a menu of tools and Brightspace activities that can be added. Some external tools have links directly in this view, like Pearson Links, the Course Readings Link, and Top Hat Deep Linking. Other External tools can be found in the External Tool Activity link, or in the More link.

Tools and Descriptions

There may be more than one way to select the same tool. For example, the Course Readings Link can be added by clicking it directly or by going through External Tool Activity or More
