How do Brightspace Discussions work?

Forums contain Topics. You create or post Threads and then Reply to other Threads.

Group, Section, or Date restrictions can be applied at the Forum or Topic level and you may only have access to certain Discussion areas based on those settings.

How do I post in Discussions?

Go to Discussions in the course navbar.

  1. Find the Topic you are going to post under.

  2. Select Click the Topic title.

  3. To post, select Select Start a New Thread to post.

  4. Write your thread then Post.

Creating a Topic, Thread, or Reply in Discussions gives you the same HTML text editor that you get when submitting an Assignment. This means you can upload and embed external files and media. Find more information in Submit This can work similar when submitting a video ( assignment).
