The Surveys tool can be used to solicit feedback or gather opinions and can even be configured for Likert-style ratings.

Survey questions do not have to have right or wrong answers, feedback cannot be provided for submissions, and they cannot be tied to Grades. Thus, Surveys are not for evaluation purposes and should not be used in place of quizzes.

Note that Quizzes and Assignments can both be set as ungraded and not associated with a grade item.

The Surveys Page

The Surveys tool is available in the Course Tools dropdown that is part of the default site navbar. It can also be found in Course Admin and added independently to a custom navbar.

  1. Select Surveys to reach the tool page.

New Survey - Create a new survey from scratch.

Edit Categories - Create new categories or select an existing category to add surveys to. An additional tool for organization of surveys.

More Actions:

> Copy - Duplicate an existing survey.

> Reorder - Customize the order in which your surveys appear in the list on the Survey Tool page.

> Make Visible to Users - Select one or more surveys then click this button to make the selected surveys visible to users.

> Hide from Users - Select one or more surveys then click this button to make the selected surveys hidden from users.

> Delete - Select one or more surveys then click delete to permanently remove these surveys.

View your existing surveys by either availability or category using the Preview drop-down, then selecting Apply to re-order the surveys.
