Instructors can create up to five custom likert-style or open-response questions in a Student Course Experience Survey. Personalized questions do not replace the default options and will appear at the end of the survey following the standard Brock-wide questions and any provided by a Department or Faculty.

The quickest way to view all existing questions is to Preview the Survey.

Use custom questions to gather feedback about elements of a course’s design that are emergent or that are not addressed by the questions already present in the survey.

You cannot add personalized questions once a survey has opened for student feedback.

Add new questions to a survey

The main page of Blue will list each survey associated with your instructor account under Tasks. Each survey will have two options:

  • Add personalized questions for…

  • View and manage questionnaire settings for…

Select the Add personalized questions for… option associated with the appropriate course section. This option will display as Expired once the survey for the course section has become available to students.

Personalized questions must be added to each survey as it is listed, even if they are associated with multiple sections of the same course.

Enter the personalized question details

Up to five questions in total can be added to either of the two options:

  • Create custom-worded rating questions for Likert-style rating questions.

  • Create custom-worded open-ended questions for written response questions.

Click Expand all to proceed to the editing options.

Enter personalized Likert-style rating questions, click the Expand all option within the

area. To enter personalized open-ended questions, click the Show Section option within the

Carea.

Click Customize

Enter the question text

  1. Enter the question text within the Question field.

  2. Click the close icon.

Ensure that the new question is set to Included

After entering a personalized question, ensure that the Included status is selected.

Submit the personalized questions

Click Submit to add the personalized questions to the Student Course Experience Survey of your course section.
