Many courses, programs, and instructors make use of external tools and applications to enhance the teaching and learning experience. The CPI takes pride in doing our best to integrate these tools into a usable form in Brock’s Brightspace environment.

Tools integrated into Brightspace

Below is a list of tools that have already been integrated into Brightspace, as well as a brief description of their function.

Cengage Infuse

Allows instructors to link to Cengage learning materials such as textbooks, quiz banks, assessments, and more.

Course Evaluation/Course Experience Survey

Evaluation tool for students to have the opportunity to reflect and review a course upon completing it.

Available via Course Surveys on the navbar of the Brightspace homepage.

Course Readings - ARES

Direct integration with Ares (Brock course readings tool). Contact records@brocku.ca to learn more about setting up a course readings list and integrating it into your course site.

Accessible via External Course Tools in Add Existing in the Content area.

Echo360/YuJa

Brock’s video platform tool. Allows instructors to create, store, and upload various media (learn more from YuJa)

Can be found via Insert Stuff in any text-editor, or from Course Tools on a course navbar.

Elsevier Evolve

Allows instructors to link to Evolve learning materials such as textbooks, quiz banks, assessments, and more.

Etherpads

Similar to Google docs, a collaborative, textual workspace.

Hypothesis

A tool used for collaborative or individual annotation of readings. Hypothesis 1.3 allows for the grading (individual and group) of annotations. Learn more from Hypothesis Group Annotation

Kritik

Peer-assessment tool.

Labster

Virtual lab tool.

Library Research

Integrate subject-specific research guides provided by the Brock library.

LingroLearning

Tool used to assist with asynchronous language-learning. Only available to Italian courses.

MH Campus/McGraw-Hill Connect

Allows instructors to link to Connect learning materials such as textbooks, quiz banks, assessments, and more.

Mobius

A mathematical tool used to create and employ complicated arithmetic and scientific questions/equations. Only available to Math and Physics depts

Office 365 - File Picker

Order Textbooks

Direct link to Campus Store textbook orders for a specific course.

Pearson Direct/Revel/Mastering/MyLab

Allows instructors to link to Pearson learning materials such as textbooks, quiz banks, assessments, and more.

Accessible via External Course Tools in Add Existing in the Content area.

TopHat

Direct integration with Top Hat, an engagement tool that fosters real-time participation via quizzes, surveys, attendance, and more.

Turnitin

Can be activated in the Submission and Completion sub-menu when editing an Assignment.
