back-end resource folder for Brightspace sites. This tool includes all uploaded content including copied images. It also houses recordings and videos, student submission files, assessments, course content, and even widget tools. This tool is visible to the teaching team and site administrators only, it IS NOT accessible to students.

Warning

We do not recommend using this tool as a place to build and maintain your content, as students cannot access it and the possibility of deleting a student submission, removing a required document, or overwriting images is great.

Accessing the Manage Files tool

To access Manage Files click on Course Tools from the red navigation bar > select Course Admin > Manage Files

Manage Files Options

In the Manage Files tool you can complete the following tasks:

  • Hide Tree: hide the menu on the left hand side which shows you each folder and the files within those parent folders

  • New File: create a new HTML document within the course site

  • New Folder: create a new folder for files

  • Paste: paste a document into the Manage Files area

  • Upload: add a document to the Manage Files area from your computer

  • Cut: remove a document from Manage Files

  • Copy: copy a document from Manage Files to another place in the site

  • Delete: delete a document from Manage Files

  • Download: download a document from Manage Files to your computer

  • Zip: create a zip folder of multiple files

  • Add Content Topics: add a document from Manage Files to the Content area of your Brightspace site

  • Rename: change the name of the file or folder

  • Copy: copy the file or folder to another location

  • Cut: move the file or folder to another location

  • Delete: remove the file or folder
