Crowdmark is a an online tool integrated into Brock’s Brightspace for the Faculty of Math and Science to facilitate administering, collecting, and grading handwritten assessments.
Instructors can create a Crowdmark course to house course specific materials, and create assignments that require scientific, mathematical or musical notation in the response, or provide an artifact to be labelled. Crowdmark allows for easy distribution and collection of student work, offers tools for the assembly and management of grading teams, and provides an online workflow that streamlines grading and the delivery of rich feedback to students.
Members of the Brock University community can now access Crowdmark at https://app.crowdmark.com/sign-in/brock-university or by visiting the main Crowdmark web page and selecting "Sign In" (top right) and then select "Sign In through your school" "Brock University (bottom), and follow the prompts.

What is Crowdmark?
Crowdmark is an online tool focused on making the grading process more effective and and time efficient. This tool is geared towards administering and grading assessments that are easier for students to write by hand than to type in a textbox , (i.e. drawing a diagram, or completing an equation, etc.). Courses like Math and Science are the target disciplines of this tool. Moreover, Crowdmark considers the usual logistical concerns with grading high and low stake assessments which may rely on grading teams
Crowdmark carefully considers logistical concerns of grading assessments that rely on multiple team members offering a variety of skills and expertise. It aims to make the process of diving divvying up grading work between team members less cumbersome, and offers the best of both worlds options for instructors and students to give and receive feedback on handwritten submissions.
To get a quick sense of what Crowdmark can do and how it works please view this short 2 minute YouTube Crowdmark video.
For a more detailed perspectives perspective on how crowdmark Crowdmark might be used here at Brock, please review this CPI’s recording of the Friday, September 4, 2020 introductory workshop.

Crowdmark has an excellent Getting Started Guide. Brock instructors can follow this guide, simply replacing the first "Create a course" step with "Import a Course".
In Summary:
Create your Crowdmark account that is linked to Brock University's Brightspace LMS
Import your published Brightspace course
Sync your students
Create your first practice assessment
Distribute to students
Things to Consider
The student enrollment in Crowdmark is only updated through Instructor actions
Please see Sync with Brightspace process or manually enrolling or disenrolling students in the classlist tool on their website.
Students will not see the course in Crowdmark until an assessment has been distributed.
Instructors can add themselves as a student to better understand the current site configuration settings. If you have two roles in a site you can toggle from being part of the Instruction Team or a Student in the context selector found at the top right near your avatar and name.
Since Co-Instructors, TAs, Marker & Graders are not members of a class roster, course team members need to be added to the Grading Team manually by an Instructor in the Instructor or Grader role.
Accessing CrowdmarkSpecific courses within Brock University’s Faculty of Math and Science can use Crowdmark in the Brightspace Content tool with the following steps:
