Steps to Previewing
Preview a Quiz
Navigate to the Quizzes Tool.
Click the chevron dropdown arrow to the right of the quiz name you wish to preview a Quiz and select Preview.
If any restrictions have been set, ensure to check Bypass Restrictions at the top of the start page before continuing.
Review the start screen information then select Start Quiz!
You will be able to navigate the quiz as a student including answering questions.
To exit Submit the quiz and click Done, or at any time click Exit Preview in the top right corner of the screen
The preview option is also available from the Quiz’s editing page.
The Quiz Details page will present any instructions and outline the timing and access parameters as they would appear to a student. Use the Bypass Restrictions option to get around any Release Conditions or access controls that may interrupt the preview.
Select Start Quiz! at the bottom of the page to experience the simulated quiz environment. This is the true student view and will show any implementation of the countdown timer, pagination, question structure, hints, etc.
Be aware of the Allow this preview attempt to be graded in the Grade Quiz area option just before submission. Select that to be able to preview the Quiz grading screen once complete.
Click Submit to follow through to the confirmation screen (the same as what a student will see) and then the Done button to finish.
Use Exit Preview in the top-right to end the simulation at any time.
“Grade” the previewed attempt
Utilize the Allow this preview attempt to be graded in the Grade Quiz area option before submitting a previewed Quiz attempt. This will send the previewed attempt to the Quiz's Grade screen (where it will be separate and distinguishable from student submissions).
Click the dropdown arrow to the right of a Quiz and select Grade.
This screen will be empty unless there have already been student submissions. Use the Search Options [1] to switch to view Users who have previewed attempts [2] and then click the magnifying glass to search [3].
Find the previewed attempt and click to view the complete simulated Quiz grading screen. This will display all available options for scoring questions and providing feedback, as well as the full attempt log.
The feedback Publish and Save Draft options are available in the bottom-right, but preview attempt grades cannot actually be sent anywhere.
